FeaturedCommentsIm doing D.T (design and technology) for GCSE and A-level at my school and I hardly know anything about how to make complex things or the different types of materials like hardwoods and softwoods (don't really know why they are used in specific types of furniture). Is it quite important the types of wood you use with your designs? I do very complex ideas but I have no idea how to make them. I made a very complex Ipod docking station, for a GCSE D.T project, which turned out horrible in the end because the acrylic was dented all over and the design was very different to the outcome. I was wondering if you had any tips for making designs? Did you go through any training at school or did you just self teach yourself? Do you have to know quite a bit of maths (I suck at it)? Do you have to be pretty skilled in cutting the wood and sanding it down? I think what you do is amazing and beyond. I would love to make a keyblade during the summer and try to improve my D.T skills in order to make up for my worthless effort in my GCSE. After all, I do want to be able to make designs in the future as well as be an artist.
Hey, sorry for the late response. Good luck at your school.
I self taught everything myself. You dont need math or handy wood carving skills, I just tried it and practiced. I have a keyblade tutorial in my gallery if youd like to see the steps on how I make them. |
