Finally finished. A lot of hard work for this commission. It took FIVE attempts at perfecting the blade. Not to mention all the drawings I made and studying the sword from every angle. The client requested that the sword must be lightweight. I tried several different materials to see which was best. To keep the weight down to 6-7 lbs, the blade is made from Mat board layers [similar to chipboard/posterboard/cardboard]. The internal structure is very solid and allows for the sword's weight to transfer efficiently to the handle. The hilt base and handle are hand carved wood [which took the most time to complete]. The blade edge is wrapped in a sheet metal film while the handle is stained vinyl.
The photo on the right is a bit skewed because it was taken at a slight angle. Take a look at the progress images for close ups.

More of my work:
EDIT: GAHHHH A DD I've dreamed of the day ever since I joined xD thanks so much.
With my sculptures, I strive to obtain 100% accuracy in every possible way. I attempt to go beyond by selecting premium unique color choices and even enhancing details to my own designs. Out of love to the Square Enix family, it is my honor to craft such elite weaponry not only for my personal admiration, but for my fellow cosplayers, prop makers, friends, and fans. I would be nothing without my friends and fans. The intense hard work, sweat, blood, and tears that I put into making these is worth it. I hope that one day my talents and artwork may be recognized highly by others. Thank you.
First Off. This does NOT Disappoint. The Texturing on the upper part of the Blade Provide a Beautiful Contrast to the Pristine silver of the Edge itself. The Engravings on the Hilt add Just Enough Luxury to this Badass Anime Style weapon to make it Believably Real. The Bold Lines make It seem that it would actually Break into the Separate Swords for an Omnislash Overall: A Beautiful Masterpiece.
Things to Improve Upon: Maybe Make the Blade a Bit longer and Strive for more Contrast in Colors for more Depth, While the Details on the Hilt and Handle are Magnificent, The rest of the
One word: WOW, more words: I love this; this is the first photo that shows the entire blade. This is one of the few buster sword replicas’ that is not only acceptable, but outstanding. The hand guard is very close to the original. The indents that run along the surface of the blade are extremely accurate. I love that the materia slots are actually hollow, compared to cheaper nastier replicas. It is obvious that you are very meticulous in your work, as you have put the very minor details that most people don't care about into your sword.
I would recommend that any FFVII fanatic should secure a commission with =vvmasterdrfan, as missing out on this sword would be a horrific nightmare.
Now here comes the hard part. This wouldn't be a proper critique if I didn't say what bugged me about the sword. Thankfully enough there is only a few things. It may be just the photo, but the hand guard looks slightly uneven. The colours are not exactly accurate, but paint is easy to buy and redo. The sharp edge of the sword seems to thin out too much towards the end of the blade.
But besides those 3 minor imperfections, this sword is beauty personified. I know that the next sword you make will be even better and I hope that you take more photos; you need to share this with the world.
To sum up: great work, I am blown away by the attention to detail, I am extremely jealous, and I hope to get one commissioned for myself later this year. The minor details which bother me, can be easily fixed, and the only thing I can say now, is that I really hope the new owner of the sword treats it with the respect and dignity that it deserves.
Overall: A Beautiful Masterpiece.
